Social Skills Groups starting in early 2014!

The Portsmouth Neuropsychology Center will be holding Social Skill groups in early 2014. The Social Skills groups run for eight consecutive weeks.  Each session will last one hour, and there will be parent “check-ins” every other week, in which Dr. Cook will discuss strategies to help children generalize skills in everyday situations.  Prior to participating in a Social Skills Group, an initial 30-minute intake meeting with you and your child is required to ensure group compatibility.  The groups will focus on building the following social skills:

  • Starting and sustaining conversations
  • Playing cooperatively with others
  • Developing and sustaining friendships
  • Recognizing feelings
  • Having empathy for others
  • Dealing with teasing
  • Actively listening to others
  • Understanding nonverbal gestures

To register for a Social Skills Group, please contact Linnea Hauthaway at (603) 433-0800 to schedule your initial intake meeting.  We look forward to working with you and your child to develop his or her social skills and maximize his or her overall social success.
